Club News Update

Firstly good luck to all the guys entering the Vics this year, with about 300-400 competitors it should be a great comp. Keep an eye on the AFBJJ website the nite before the comp as brackets and times should be up to make it easier to plan your day. Take a towel and togs and go have a swim. There will be scoreboards up so make sure the person in your corner keeps an eye on it and keeps you up to date. Next, please be aware that there will no classes on Easter Saturday 11th April. Classes will run as normal on the Thursday 9 April and Tuesday 14th April. Lastly, early Monday morning training will cease for now and resume again in mid-August in preparation for the Pan Pacs. Cheers.

PSL Couture v Jacare

I remember when this match was first announced I thought it would be great as Jacare is an athletic and talented grappler as you can find . But what amazed me most was how solid Randy's defence is through the enitre match. Its not pretty to watch and the result is a let down. But Jacare makes most of the attacking options and Randy never loses his position. And considering Randy's background in greco and MMA thats very very impressive. There is a lot to be learned by watching this in terms of maintaining base and balance against an aggressive guard.

The time has come...

We have been getting asked again and again when the next MG is, so here it comes. We know there are MANY people who cannot make it to the Vics with them being on a Friday. So we are putting this No Gi tourney on to feed the grappling appetites of all and sundry. Additionally we will have an MG Gi on Saturday May 16th, but more about that later.

Saturday 18th of April
DMMA 555 Victoria St, Richmond
Weigh in & registration 8:30 - 9:30am
Action Starts 10am sharp

Check out www.moregrappling.com.au for rules and posters.

The new website will be updated continually with news and other interesting jibber jabber. You can register your email address and get on a mailing list for future tourneys (rules and poster will be sent through as well).

So bust out your sexiest spandex and get ready to rock out with your cocks out (or perhaps in).

Monday Training Time Change

Training will be from 12pm this Monday instead of 6am as previously stated. This is due to the public holiday and the different opening hours of the gym from 9am. We are unable to access the gym at 6am as I expected. I am working in the morning and will head down to the gym afterward to train. Rather than canceling all together I thought we might at least get the session in during the day. Sorry for the late notice. Please spread the word by calling or texting your team mates.

Monday Morning Training Session?

Just wanted to float the idea of a competition training session on Mondays from 6am-7am between now and the next competition which is the Vics in early April. This would give us four extra sessions before the comp, ideally I would like to start the next one 6 weeks out from the tournament. I would like to get 6-8 guys on the mat to make it worthwhile. Please post a comment or let me know verbally if your interested in early morning training. I wouldn't make this a full time class and only use it in the weeks leading up to comps and expect that all who attend will enter. The Vics is the only big comp in the first half of the year so make up your mind and let me know before its too late. Early morning sessions are not everyones cup of tea but are a great way to start the day and a training week. We have showers now, so it means you can go to work straight after your work out.
